The Opening

awakening
to the morning dove's call
wingbeats
could this be a love song
for this grey day

I thought
it was your voice
only the wind
playing tricks on me
are you an enchantress

It was a fledgling
that flew the wrong way
onto our bed
cradled in my flowery hat
we sent it back to the sky

bound to the earth
my feet drag on the ground
space sky
freedom space
so many questions

imagine being
inside an egg
so little room
it cracks wide open
in the world of wings

mind expanding
growing new pathways
right and left
the body electric
with frequencies of joy
